Honoring the Legacy of Bruce McEwen, PhD
January 17, 1938 - January 2, 2020
We are grateful that Dr. McEwen served as the keynote for the NURTURE Center's Inaugural Conference. Dr. McEwen was a neuroendocrinologist at Rockefeller University. He coined the term Allostatic Load.

Welcome to the NURTURE Center's Website!

At the NURTURE center, we envision performing a series of studies to unravel the social, behavioral and physiologic underpinnings of adversity across the lifespan. Our primary goal is to identify therapeutic and behavioral targets aimed at preventing and treating cardiovascular and other diseases.

A central theme of the NURTURE Center involves teaching, mentoring and provision of a framework to develop the careers of persons interested in studying the underlying role of adversity in cardiovascular health.

We have an ambitious agenda and as such we have assembled a highly experienced multidisciplinary team of advisors, affiliated faculty and trainees. We believe in continuous learning and implementation through active partnerships. We hope that you will support the NURTURE Center in a manner best synergized for you.

Thank you for visiting our site.
