Fumika Matsushita, MPH

Research Analyst
Fumika Matsushita is a research data analyst for CDC Chronic Kidney Disease surveillance system in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She worked as a research associate at the Center for the Study of Adversity and Cardiovascular Disease (NURTURE) in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at UCSF. As a member of the NURTURE Research team, she co-authored peer-reviewed manuscripts that analyzed data from the Women’s Health Study. Using this data, Fumika and the research team are interested in examining the impact of cumulative psychosocial stress on cardiovascular disease risk. Fumika earned a Master of Applied Data Science Degree from Syracuse University and a Master of Public Health Degree in Community Health Education and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Education from San Francisco State University. She is strongly committed to social justice and the practice of cultural humility and wants to conduct rigorous research that could inform interventions for underserved communities that suffer from inequities.
