CLINICAL INTERESTS
My clinical interests are heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias in patients with heart failure. Having advanced training in both heart failure and electrophysiology, I practice an integrated approach in treating patients with heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias. I am also interested in cardiac recovery using electrical (i.e. cardiac resynchronization) and mechanical (i.e. ventricular assist devices) therapies. I treat patients across the heart failure spectrum, from early diagnosis to heart transplantation. At UCSF, I am the Director of the Advanced Heart Failure Comprehensive Care Center and the Section Chief of Advanced Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support, Pulmonary Hypertension and Heart Transplant.

RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research is aimed at developing new diagnostic sensors, therapeutic devices and artificial intelligence tools for patients with cardiovascular disease, including patients with heart failure. In addition, I am interested in understanding the epidemiology of heart failure in women and sudden cardiac death in women with heart failure. At UCSF, I am the Director of the Cardiology Clinical Research infrastructure.
